About Us

Dr. Dieu-My Tran earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in 2014. Currently, she is a Tenured Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), serves as an interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, and a Partner at Adjustable Heels, LLC also known as Heeliotrope. She is passionate about heart health in young adulthood and engaging with college students. Her research focuses on cardiovascular disease in young adult/college students.

Dr. Nghi Nguyen received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 2012. He taught engineering and chemistry for 12 years. In addition, he has over 14 years of experience in research and development. Following eight years of unwavering dedication and perseverance, he successfully pioneered a 3-configuration adjustable high heel, a creation he is confident will captivate every enthusiast of high heels. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has officially awarded a utility patent for this groundbreaking innovation.

Our Story

Like many aficionados of fine footwear, Dr. Tran harbors a particular passion for high heels. However, prolonged wear of heels three inches or higher can lead to discomfort, muscle spasms, and, over time, may result in persistent lower back and neck pain. While adjustable high heels are not a novel concept, numerous companies have attempted to create them but failed due to a lack of foundational engineering expertise specific to high heel design. A few brands have succeeded in developing two-configuration heels, yet their offerings fall short. These products often feature overly bulky bases designed to conceal the heel mechanism or necessitate the inconvenient swapping of heel components to achieve varying heights. As a result, consumers have traditionally faced the dilemma of sacrificing comfort for aesthetic appeal or enduring the inconvenience of carrying additional heel attachments.

In 2016, Dr. Tran presented Dr. Nguyen with a formidable challenge: to devise an innovative solution for high heels that would blend unparalleled comfort with captivating aesthetics and elegance. Though this concept was foreign to Dr. Nguyen, it piqued his curiosity. Driven by determination, he meticulously examined the composition and structure of numerous high heels, dismantling them to gain profound insight. Armed with his engineering expertise and boundless creativity, Dr. Nguyen embarked on an extensive journey of research and development, culminating in eight years of rigorous work and the creation of countless prototypes. His efforts bore fruit with the development of a groundbreaking adjustable high heel featuring three distinct configurations. The United States Patent and Trademark Office recognized the ingenuity of his design by awarding him a utility patent. Now, with immense pride, Dr. Nguyen seeks to share this revolutionary innovation with all high heel enthusiasts.
